Irene Kaufman

Irene was born in New York City and moved to Florida in 2000 where she developed a passion for wildlife and the natural world. Irene is a strong volunteer in the community with many organizations including the GTM Research Reserve, St John's County's Early Literacy Program and the Florida Guardian ad Litem office. She is also a board member of the Land Acquisition Management Program. Irene says that she enjoys volunteering with Florida Water Warriors because she "loves seeing the joy of the children learning about marine life.  Just being out on the water would be enough, but seeing the students’ pride in participating in science experiments is so rewarding."

Lena Mulcahy

Lena was born in Germany and lived abroad for 13 years. She has had a career in the tourism industry for 38 years. She started her own company, Entourage Management, in 2005. Lena says that, "Student travel builds independence and confidence. Being in a new environment encourages students to make decisions, manage their time, and adapt to unfamiliar situations. And along the way, we get to have a great time exploring a new destination as well." Lena enjoys being a volunteer with the Florida Water Warriors because she enjoys supporting the students and educational team on the boat field trips and being apart of educational travel in a different way.

Martha Pedigo

Martha grew up in Gainesville, Florida, and moved to St. Augustine in 2021. She works as an Associate Project Manager with Epiq Class Action, an industry leader in class action administration. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time in nature, especially bird watching and hiking. Martha loves volunteering with Florida Water Warriors because she enjoys learning new things and supporting environmental education. One of her favorite parts of volunteering is seeing kids light up as they learn about the local ecosystem, and take part in hands-on activities like examining water samples under a microscope.

Volunteer

Do you enjoy being out on the water, working with community members, and helping kids? Florida Water Warriors is looking for volunteers to help organize our events & fundraisers as well as attend events throughout the year to help us reach our goals! At Florida Water Warriors, we believe that hands-on experiences are the most powerful way to spark environmental stewardship. As a volunteer, you'll help bring underserved K‑12 students and community members in Northeast Florida out onto the water—whether on educational boat tours, marine field experiences, or citizen-science water quality projects.
