Our Amazing Tour Guide

Why I love Florida Water Warriors: What I love about Florida Water Tours is seeing the excitement from everyone on board, not just the kids. Being that is it something different that most people haven’t learned about since they were young, everyone gets excited about it. Especially since the research being done is hands, and directly affects our everyday lives. We need to teach everyone how to protect and learn about what is going on with our oceans and sea life.

Favorite Animal: I love the Pharaoh Cuttlefish. They have learned and adapted to anything life throws at them. Their brains are distributed in their different arms making whatever conscious experience they might have completely alien to us (imagine if your arms had a semi-independent brain). We can learn a lot from Cuttlefish with our own life experiences.

Why I love Florida Water Warriors: We all read and watch stories about the fate of our planet due to human impacts. It’s time to actually do something about it, and that begins with some education! I wanted to create something to spark some passion into children about how protecting our fragile ecosystems are truly protecting our future. I also believe that education is a right regardless of financial, geographical, or ability barriers. Creating this classroom on the water for ALL students to learn in a productive setting is the start of something amazing!

My Favorite Animal: Diamondback Terrapins! I have been a fan of these beautiful aquatic turtles since I was young.

Educational Director & Teacher

Why I love Florida Water Warriors: I’m involved with Florida Water Warriors because conserving the environment and teaching are huge parts of my daily life. As an elementary school teacher, I teach students to value the environment as well as ways to protect and regenerate the planet that we call home. Florida Water Warriors provides students with enriched, hands-on curriculum in marine research, environmental conservation and protection.

Favorite Animal: My favorite marine animal is a sea horse because the dads have to carry the unborn babies! Plus, they are super cool fish that can anchor down using their tail.

Why I love Florida Water Warriors: I believe that the future of our world lies in the hands of today’s youth. In this era of electronics and sedentary lifestyles, I want to offer youth an opportunity to become exposed to the natural world. It is my hope that they will learn the harmony being in nature can provide. As our modern world continues to expand, it is more important than ever to raise awareness to tomorrows citizens of the current state of our waterways and environment. It is my hope that they then become more informed through hands the hands on experience our organization offers and give them the exposure needed to help protect our natural world.

Favorite Animal: My favorite animal in the wild is Otter. The otter is a very playful, active critter that has very strong family attachments. Otters are playful animals and appear to engage in various behaviors for sheer enjoyment, such as making waterslides and then sliding on them into the water. They may also find and play with small stones.

Why I love Florida Water Warriors: Being part of FWW allows me to give back and stay involved with two things that I’ve always held in high regard, educating children and protecting the environment. I have worked in both areas in various parts of the country and am thrilled that we have been able to merge these two undertakings right here in our incredible yet vulnerable coastal ecosystem.

Favorite Animal: Favorite Marine animal is the Hawaiian Monk Seal
